How Many People Suffer From Headaches?

More than 45 Million people get headaches and they get them often with an estimated 16 to 18 Million of them suffering from migraine headaches.  About Seventy percent of headache sufferers are female.  Cluster headaches which occur in about one Million people usually attack men in about 90 percent of the cases.  Cluster Headaches are typically around or behind one eye.

What Are The Causes of Headaches?

Headache problems can be caused by too much salty food, dehydration, and too much alcohol the night before.  These are  just some of our own lifestyle habits that could be changed  if we are willing to make the change.   But there are those of us who experience Migraine Headaches that come on for no known reason, rob us of a good portion of our lives and leave, sometimes just as quickly as they came on.  Throbbing, pulsing, aching headaches that make us feel nauseous; disrupt our lives, the lives of our families and our fellow co-workers on the job.  Many of us have lived with Migraine Headaches for years with no relief.  That can now be changed with our Natural Headache Remedies.

Here Are Just a Few Tips on Natural Headache Remedies:

  • Go into a dark, quiet room with no disturbances and put a warm or cold compress on your pain area.
  • Exercise is useful as a preventive measure – You are releasing stress.
  • If the headache isn’t too severe, exercise through your headache.
  • Many people sleep a headache off.
  • For people with migraines, don’t nap if you don’t have a headache.  Sometimes this brings one on.
  • Sleeping on your back helps.  Sleeping on your stomach or in an awkward position can cause tension in the neck causing an attack.
  • Some people use a hot shower or warm compress on their neck.
  • Both self-massage and acupressure can help.
  • Pretend it’s a Rose.  Put a pencil between your teeth and don’t bite it.  You have to relax to do that.
  • Wear a headband.  It will decrease the blood flow to the scalp and lessen the pounding or throbbing of a migraine.

Relief for severe headaches?

For the past 2 or 3 weeks I’ve gotten frequent headaches that are very severe(to the point I can’t even hold my head up to drive home), nausea and vomiting, and severe lethargy. It’s not a migraine, as I’ve had these before and this isn’t like that. I’m not sensitive to light when I get these headaches and sleeping doesn’t make them go away. I had one the other day from 11 am(I had to have my husband drive me home from work) until 6:30 am the next morning when I awoke for work.

Usually when I feel a headache coming on I get warm and my palms get sweaty. Advil and Excedrin haven’t helped. I even tried one of my mom’s prescription Ibuprofens, but to no avail. If they continue, I plan to go to the doctor, but even as I type this I feel the beginnings of one. Any advice?

admin answers:

Caffeine. No I am not joking. I have migraines and severe headaches. I take Excedrin Migraine which is loaded with caffeine. My doctor also told me that caffeine will work for migraines but hasn’t given me a prescription because I haven’t gotten my ct scan done yet to find the cause of my headaches. Right now I have prescription ibuprofen but it doesn’t really work for me. Migraines are something that almost everyone in my family has and 3 people in my family are on a type of caffeine pill to relieve the headaches. Keep in mind that it isn’t used as a preventative medication. You take it when you feel one starting.

How to stop computer caused headaches?

I am a teen that is having a major problem that is effecting my life in a very negative way. I love computers, and I am great at using them. I like surfing the web, playing Steam, and going on Yahoo :D . But, I have a problem, I get migraine headaches from looking at a screen for more than an hour. The headaches sometimes become so severe I need painkillers to get MINIMAL relief. I can go days without headaches IF I don’t look at screens. Ever since I was 7, I always wanted to be a game programmer, and I want to follow that dream, but I can’t if I can’t even look at a screen for more than an hour.

ANYTHING BLINKING, FLASHING, POUNDING, KNOCKING, ETC. Will give you a migraine.

TRY USING A FACE MASK OR DARK HAT OVER FACE TO BLOCK OUT ALL DIMMED LIGHTING.

FEVERFEW @ bedtime if it becomes a longterm hassle.

You may want to check your settings on all your digital items that you are using. Each device you use has a warning that MANY COMPLETELY IGNORE. Go under your settings for your screen settings on your computer, laptops, televisions, monitors, digital games, etc. AND LOWER THE BRIGHTNESS ON THE SCREEN.

Also, don’t forget that all these items are a heat source and depending on how close you are to the item you are using, you are affecting your personal body sources. (ie. Flickering lights affect the eyes, laptops on laps affect fluids. Etc.)

You may be completely dehydrated if you aren’t drinking adequates amounts of water daily. Here’s a guide to help you figure out how much water you require daily for your weight.

? Your Weight Times (.5) Equals Divided By 8oz (or 1 Cup) Equals # Cups of Water/Day

• 150lbs x .5 = 75/8 = 9 Cups of Water/day
• 175lbs x .5 = /8 = 11 Cups of Water/day
• 200lbs x .5 = 100/8 = 12.5 Cups Water/day

I find taking my medication (excederin tension headache works better than excederin migraine) with a Monster drink or red bull with the extra caffeine, but NOT the whole can…just enough to swallow the pill and wash it down with a few extra gulps only. It works fast (20 minutes).

For some reasons, when the medication says TENSION HEADACHE it helps more. Others take ROBAXACET which is acetominophen with methocarbonal also comes with Codeine when asked.
If you use feverfew daily at bedtime. I also find it helpful to use something that I haven’t used before or for a long time in a different family of medications.

1. I used to use a combination of medications which included 400mg Ibuprofen 4x a day with food. This takes the swelling and inflammation down. DO NOT exceed1600mg in one day and you may need prilosec for stomach protection as ALL ANTI INFLAMMATORIES are difficult on the stomach. ***You can use Tylenol with Ibuprofen and Aspirin watch for daily maximums & don’t exceed.

2. Robaxacet is Tylenol (acetominophen) combined with methocarbonal (muscle relaxant)…this also comes with codeine on request from the pharmacist. This only relaxes any tight muscles around the pain and helps reduce some pain. You can use Robaxacet with Ibuprofen and Aspirin, BUT NOT Tylenol as it’s already an ingredient in this pill.

3. Robaxacyl is Aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid) combines with methocarbonal (muscle relaxant)…this has a blood thinning active ingredient and isn’t ideal for anyone under age 16 years or complications with blood pressure, ailments, etc. This both takes down the inflammation as well as treats the pain. You can use Robaxacyl with Ibuprofen and Tylenol, BUT NOT Aspirin as it’s already an ingredient in this pill.
——————————…
4. Aleve is a Nonsteroidal Anti Inflammatory (Naproxen) which will helps reduce the inflammation, and as the inflammation decreases so does the pain; BUT you CANNOT mix this drug with any of the above mentioned safely.

5. Dynamint has been used on horses legs for years, but it does an amazing job on sore neck muscles. It’s ingredients are Peppermint Oil, Eucalyptus Oil , Tea Tree Oil and Calendula Oil.

6. Deep Cold Gold is an alternative rub that works very well on tight aching tendons on your upper shoulders, neck and TMJ joints.

It sounds more like it would be a MIGRAINE or AURAS (flickering lights or spots in eyes) associated with MIGRAINES or TENSION HEADACHE. Many things can trigger a HEADACHES/MIGRAINES: using your arm in an awkward way (bowling) when you don’t normally do that, lack of food (skipping meals), head resting in a hairdressers sink, going to a concert with light show, video game screen with fast movements & flashing lights, staring in the light (sun) constantly on your eyes…etc.

If you experience a headache with ANY LOSS OF WEAKNESS, SLURRING, IMBALANCE or FEVER, then you need to seek medical attention immediately for a consult to make sure there isn’t something more serious going on.

The ears are either tension from stress or tension stress from your TM joint in your jaw. It can make you sickly with migraines if out of place even a smidge.

When I was 16 years old I had severe tension headaches that made the ligament behind my ear pop out like a big ole bump. The doctor prescribed a low dose of Elavil (amitryptaline) & it was gone within days. The Elavil in high doses is used for depression but they use it for car accidents because it relaxes the muscles from whiplash.

Ideas for headache relief?

I have had constant headaches for the last 3 years now. I mean CONSTANT, I can’t think of one day without pain. I get plenty of sleep, I don’t drink a lot of caffeine, I drink plenty of water(but not to much). Usually I can stand the pain, I’ve learned to deal with it. on a normal day, the pain peaks at a about a 5, with a low around a 3(pain scale of 1-10, 10 being worst). every few weeks I get a killer migraine, usually around an 8 or 9, though I have had a few 10s. These are real migraines, pain so intense I am in tears, i can’t stand even the slightest sound or light, I am collapsed, unable to move because of the pain. I haven’t had insurance for the last 2 years, i can’t go get it checked. I am looking for ideas of pain relief, legal ones preferably. I’m out of ideas. Excedrin makes me puke, and regular Tylenol, Alive, and Advil don’t work anymore.

Sounds like migraines. There are plenty of migrane medicine available that u can buy from online pharmacies that are based overseas.
Www.drugbuyers.com is a website that specializes in buying medicine online w/o prescription, just credit card number. Ive bought plenty of things on there cus im lazy its cheaper then scheduling an appointment with a doctor. But they are also great if u dont have insurance. My favorites was toprxsavings.com. Here is a direct link to the migraine section:

http://toprxsavings.com/store/src/store.php?prog=products&a=list&cat=72&nocache=VGM1256358400UTKKQG2009/10231256358400&idioma=ENG

order one of those drugs and see if it works. If it doesnt then try a different one. There are plenty of migraine medications out there that arent scheduled drugs and easily available online. Do wikipedia or webmd research on types of drugs for migraine pain and order them online.

I’m 15 years old an I was wondering if I could obtain medical cannabis?

I’ve been getting severe migraine headaches for over two years now, and nothing helps. I’ve taken so much medication over the years that are just killing my insides. I’m missing school frequently because of them, too. Could I qualify for medical marijuana? I get decent grades, I’m a respectful teenager, and I’m just so desperate for relief. I live in Crown Point, Indiana.

admin answers:

It depends on your state if marijuana can be medicalized. But unless you have cancer I doubt it since you are only 15. Maybe when you’re 18 yes.

Any help for sinus headaches which seem to be barometeric related?

Anti inflammatory meds seem to help, but my body gets used to meds so they stop working. When air pressure drops,so do I from reality.I used to have migraines,so I know these are not migraines
Spring, fall, last 2 weeks of the year & 1st 2 weeks of the year are the hardest times for me
Right before rain is here (storms are worst!)Bad times also when I’m dizzy, nauseated,& weak.Sometimes I collapse in weakness. At times my ear canals ring, feel pressure or even hurt.
Drs just give me antihistamines, which sometimes work on allergies, but never for sinuses. The only time I ever get sinus infection is when I have this 3 days. But these headaches almost always last 4-6 hours. No comfort,no relief
Airplane take off/landing make me real dizzy,&I feel sinus pressure start. It’s gone soon after landing
As a kid, in elevators,I would squat in the corner with my head in my hands.I’m adult now, still get a bit dizzy, but not bad.I have more body mass
Any ideas?
Correction, the headaches last 4-16 hours
